Get deeper with Jack… Secrets of 24

This book is subtitled “The Unauthorised Guide to the Political and Moral Issues Behind TV’s Most Riveting Drama”. Clearly this is not a book purely about explosions and the like… Instead, this is a book to make you think about what’s behind the explosions and the like and it’s an interesting and insightful read.

This book is a great introduction to some big issues of our time with reference to our favourite hero…

As well as an analysis of the plotlines of 24 there are also some great interviews and essays from a wide variety of commentators adding their thoughts to the mix. These contributors include political figures, celebs and experts on technology, security and terrorism.

This book is a great one for the Jack fan who likes to think beyond the explosions, torture and terrorism and consider the social ramifications of some highly relevant issues…

Celebrating the end of 24

End of Jack Bauer
24, the series, has just bowed out with its final episode of the final series. And in true 24 style, it was gripping edge of the seat stuff, with non-stop action, head turning twists, and so much intrigue and options, there was no way to work out what would happen until right at the very end.

And then the very end happened. The conclusion, when it came, was brilliant. It ended the episode, it ended the season, and it ended the whole show – perfectly, and just the way Jack would have liked it.

Season 8 has been one of the best seasons for some time, and it’s the perfect conclusion to the whole series. It leaves you breathless, glad finally to be put out of your suspense, yet desperate for more glorious action – whiich of course we’ll see next year with the release of 24 the movie.

Until then, satisfy yourself with gloroius 24 nights with the entire set of 24 DVD boxsets, preorder the whole of Season 8 and watch it all again, or just grab as much Jack Bauer merchandise as you can carry (well, we would say that ;)

Farewell Jack – see you next year!

Why would you buy a 24 boxset DVD?

24 boxset DVD
If you’ve already seen 24 on TV you might think there’s no point in buying the DVDs but trust me, it’s a very different experience watching them on DVD to watching them on TV. You don’t have to wait/fast forward through annoying ad breaks, and you don’t need to wait a whole week until the next episode.

Also, as you know, there are so many twists and turns in the storyline that you’ll find you’ve forgotten some of the details if you watch it on TV.

If you haven’t ever seen 24 then there’s really no option for you – you have to get the DVDs. No discussion, no debate, just get them and prepare to be enthralled! Be warned though – the biggest difficulty you will find is stopping watching in order to continue your life – sleeping and eating etc will be put on hold as you watch “just one more episode” to find out what happens next.

The first series I watched on DVD I watched in only just over 24 hours. I managed to squeeze in a few hours sleep, but that was just about all I stopped for. It really is that compelling, and though the original series is a few years old now, it’s just as exciting as when it first hit an unsuspecting world.

Better still, it’s not a DVD you’ll buy once – there are so many twists and turns and so much going on that each time you watch it, you’ll discover some other detail of the story that you missed the first time round.

So that’s why you’d buy a 24 boxset DVD – it’s literally the gift that never stops giving!

So what’s the big deal about 24?

Jack Bauer of 24
If you don’t know the basic premise of 24, where have you been?!

Put simply, 24 does what it says on the tin – it’s 24 hours in the life of Federal Agent Jack Bauer. There are 24 episodes, each lasting an hour (well 45 minutes or so to allow for ad breaks). Everything is shot in real-time and every single twist and turn in the story is executed at the right time – so if a journey would take half an hour in real life, it will take half an hour in the series.

It’s mould-breaking stuff and is one of the most gripping things on TV as each and every episode is packed with a multitude of twists and turns that will guarantee you’re kept on the edge of your seat. In fact, being absolutely honest, I found it SO exciting when I first watched 24 that I couldn’t get to sleep for wondering what would happen in the next episode – and had a whole week to wait and find out!
